What’s Up at Tuck: The April Edition

By Tuck Admissions

Here in Hanover, we are celebrating the arrival of spring as campus once again springs to life with the lush greenery and blooms and outdoor activities we know so well. If you haven’t already, be sure to take a quick stroll across the green to appreciate the beauty of our campus.

Admissions kicked off April with our annual Admitted Students Weekend (ASW) April 8 – 11—a three-day event featuring interactive programming to both welcome the class of 2023 to the Tuck community and offer them more insight into the true Tuck MBA experience that awaits them here. Though held virtually, ASW 2021 featured a rich array of events, from opening remarks from Dean Matthew Slaughter, to mock classes with Professors Paul Argenti and Emily Blanchard, and a keynote speech delivered by Christine Amirian T’96, VP of Category Solutions, Disney. In true Tuck spirit, our entire community came together to celebrate and welcome the incoming class.

To our Round 3 applicants, our evaluation team has been busy reading your applications and we are excited to welcome our newest admits on May 6, 2021. For those of you still hoping to get your applications in this cycle, remember: Our rolling Round 4 runs through until June 1, 2021. Some of you might be thinking about the 2021-2022 admissions cycle, and although our application for August 2022 intake won’t be out for a few more months, there are some great admissions blogs on Tuck360 to get your research started! Take a look at our latest Dear Tuck Admissions and International Students Financial Aid FAQs blogs.

This month, student leaders from Tuck, Darden, Harvard, Wharton, Kellogg, and Ross hosted the inaugural MBA Summit on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Inspired by movements around racial injustice and organizations’ commitments to DEI and anti-racism, the DEI Summit sought to answer the question: “As an MBA student, how can I help advance diversity, equity, and inclusion—in my life and at my future organization?” Featured speakers included Joyce Chang, chair of global research at JP Morgan, Jessica Ross, SVP of finance at Salesforce, and Tuck’s Dia Draper, Assistant Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, who spoke about her personal journey and how she is moving the DEI needle at Tuck.

For our T’21s, these spring months mark the end of their Tuck MBA journey. But before they graduate to alumni, they were given the opportunity to participate in Tuck Rising: Spring '21 for T'21s—a series of opt-in programming that includes personal leadership development, community connections, and transformative reflection. This month's programming featured an AMA style conversation series called “From One Tuckie to Another” with prominent Tuck alumni who offered advice on life after Tuck. T’21s will have the opportunity to connect directly with these fellow Tuckies about anything pertaining to life post-business school—whether it's navigating their career, settling into a new city, or work-life balance.

The lead up to graduation also brings about the changing of the guard, where student board and club leadership changes hands from the outgoing class to the rising second years. So, it’s time to take a moment to thank the T’21s for their incredible leadership in an unprecedented year and wish the T’22s well as they now take up these new roles.

“April 8-11 marked Admitted Students Weekend (ASW) 2021 and I am amazed at the virtual community our ASW Student and Partner Co-Chairs were able to co-create with admitted T’23s. In addition to phenomenal programming highlighting academic, co-curricular, and residential life, T’23s, current students, alumni, Tuck Partners, faculty, and staff engaged nonstop across the ASW app to share over 3500 messages, nearly 150 photos, and countless introductions and icebreakers with one another. They connected over career goals and questions about the year ahead but also over shared interests and passions. This ASW was a reminder of the relationships that are so central to the Tuck experience and that the spirit of community and connection is alive and well at Tuck."
