Bio

Dr. David Collis is a visiting professor at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. His research focuses on corporate strategy, industry analysis, competitive strategy and global competition. He is the author of over forty articles and book chapters, and the books Corporate Strategy, Corporate Headquarters, International Strategy and the forthcoming HBR Strategy Handbook. His cases and Harvard Business Review articles have sold over 3 million copies.

He has been a professor at the Harvard Business School for 35 years. Previously he was a professor at the Yale School of Management for five years and also taught at Columbia Business School. He won the “Outstanding Educator” Award from the Academy of Management, Strategy Division for his contributions to teaching strategy. He has developed many MBA and executive level courses and has been rated the top teacher in different years at Yale, and at HBS among all strategy faculty.

He is a strategic consultant and has worked with top management of major corporations including Merck, Maersk, Fidelity Investments, and MetLife among many others. Additionally, he is a frequent speaker and consultant on strategy and higher education. He participates in and chairs executive education programs at the Harvard Business School and on in-house management education programs for multinational companies. His Board positions have included Cambridge in America, Hult International Business School and previously WebCT and Ocean Spray and as an advisor to many entrepreneurial firms. He holds a Ph.D. and an MBA from Harvard University, and an MA from Cambridge University.
