Constance Helfat To Receive Honorary Doctorate from Finnish University

The Lapeenranta University of Technology (LUT) in Finland will award Tuck professor Constance Helfat with an honorary doctorate in its doctoral conferment ceremony in June.
In 2014, the school chose Helfat, the James Brian Quinn Professor in Technology and Strategy, for its biannual Viipuri Prize for her distinguished work in modern strategy research. The honorary doctorate, the school’s highest honor, continues LUT’s recognition of Helfat’s thought leadership and influence on the teaching of economic sciences at LUT.
Helfat has forged a close relationship with LUT over the years, regularly cooperating with strategy researchers at the LUT School of Business and Management. Her research seeks to understand the nature of strategic change in organizations, particularly change that is a result of emerging technology, knowledge, and capabilities.
At Tuck, Helfat teaches the elective Strategic Principles for Internet Businesses, and the Research-to-Practice Seminar Deconstructing Apple, which examines corporate strategy through the lens of one of the most influential corporations in the history of business. She also co-edits Strategic Management Journal, and is an organizer of The FIVE Project, which aims to expand research on firm and industry evolution and related areas of entrepreneurship.
